Hello and welcome to the web site for former employees of City National Bank and First City Bank of Austin. My name is Ivan Shepperd and I worked in the Data Processing department (we would call it Information Technology now) from 1977 until 1990. I put this site together for three main reasons:

I was surprised at how little information there was on the Internet about our bank. It was as if it never existed. I was surprised at how many of the former employees with whom I've remained friends still look back on their time at the bank with such fond memories. I was surprised at how much City Bank/First City junk I still had! So with that in mind, I've created this site to share some photos, memorabila, etc. with people who continue look back at their days with City Bank as an exciting, challenging, frustrating, and fun place to work.

Now I need your help. Do you have any old photos or other memorabilia you would like to share on this web site? If so please email me at ishepperd@firstcityaustin.com and we can work out the best way to get your items posted for everyone to enjoy. For example, I would love to get a history of the bank or photos of the building before the "tower" was built. Remember the Beefeater (or whatever he was) who stood neglected in the lobby for so many years? He used to be perched on the northwest corner of the building before the tower was constructed and, as I recall from my youth, rang a bell with his mallet on the hour. I'd love to be able to post some pictures of that little guy in action.
